BERLIN/KINSHASA/KIGALI (Own Report) The Foreign Office (AA) announced the continuation of its political influence in Central Africa ( ,,Region of the Great Lakes") will utilize German humanitarian aid organizations. Secretary of State, Kerstin Müller explains that support, particularly for the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, must not be diminished by the increased demands in Southeast Asia. In the African war zone, where the EU carried out its first military mission, Berlin has already been attempting to function as mediator for some time. According to the Foreign Office, German activities concentrate on the Congo which, ,,after the conclusion of the current national conflict,"could make ,,considerable political and economic gains due to its size, wealth of natural resources and central location."Rwanda, the former imperial colony, is also part of Berlin's area of interest. There Berlin seeks to eliminate the French competition. more…

WARSAW/RIGA/BERLIN (Own report) |

WARSAW/RIGA/BERLIN (Own report) Questions are being raised in Poland about the outcomes of the Yalta Conference, and consequent doubts raised about the anti-Hitler coalition's decisions to cede the Eastern parts of the German Reich. When they met at Yalta in the Crimea in 1945, the victors of the World War had taken the decision to shift Polish territory westwards, compensating Warsaw for its losses on its eastern borders by handing over to it German regions. At the same time, the Yalta Allies came to an agreement on European spheres of influence, with Poland, among other countries, ending up in the Soviet orbit. According to Polish Members of the European Parliament, Yalta was not ,,the beginning of a new peaceful order in Europe, but also the beginning of a new slavery in Central and Eastern Europe". The post-war order is also coming in for trenchant criticism from high-ranking politicians in the Baltic States, leading to disputes about participation in the ceremonies in Moscow to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the liberation from National Socialism. It is being argued - by Polish foreign policy experts - that heads of state should not travel to the Russian capital for the event on 9 May, as this would amount to a tacit acceptance of the ,,injustice"done at. Berlin's revisionists welcome the Eastern European Yalta-critics' activities as a contribution to their attempts to de-legitimise the Potsdam Agreement and all the other decisions taken by the USA, the USSR and the UK in respect of Germany. more…

BERLIN/KABUL (Own Report) |

BERLIN/KABUL (Own Report) With the deployment of its clandestine ,,special forces commando,"the German army is expanding its occupational force in Afghanistan. The military commando for special assignments (KSK) plans to concentrate impending operations, requiring the use of force, in the north of Afghanistan. Berlin intends to take over the military administrative enforcement, while in the future, Italy and Spain will ,,be responsible"for the west and Great Britain and Canada for the south. The expansion of the German occupation regime is a result of Berlin's political and economic objectives and its goal of long term occupation of Afghan territory. Afghanistan is considered one of the ,,central partner countries"of German ,,development cooperation."The pretext and occasion for the new military expedition is the containment of cultivation of poppy products. more…

NEW YORK/BRUXELLES/MUNICH (Own report) |

NEW YORK/BRUXELLES/MUNICH (Own report) At the impending NATO-meeting in Brussels, the German government would like to break US resistance to Germany's receiving a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and will offer military compromises in return. A corresponding series of propositions, linking the preservation of NATO to Berlin's UN aspirations were advanced by the German Chancellor and his Foreign Minister in Munich last weekend. The public understood these propositions as a potential rejection of the western military alliance. But as one learns from the entourage of the Coordinator for German-American Cooperation, Karsten Voigt, these propositions were intended to ,,construct a scenario of threats". Berlin is prepared to make a ,,substantial"military ,,increase"and relieve US strain, if Washington is willing to pay the price. To underline this military preparedness, the German Minister of Defense announced (in the wings of the Munich Conference) supplementary overseas deployments of the German military. more…

Berlin / Weimar / Paris |

Berlin / Weimar / Paris The initiators of the ,,Open Letter"to the Deutsche Bahn AG (the German Railroad Corp.) are awaiting a lifting of the ban on exhibitions in passenger train stations from the direction of the corporation and have set the final deadline for May eighth. The Deutsche Bahn AG has been refusing for months to permit the passengers to view photos and other documents concerning the fate of 11,000 children, who were deported via the German rail network to Auschwitz, where they were murdered. Guilty of complicity in their murder is the predecessor of the Deutsche Bahn AG, the ,,Deutsche Reichsbahn"in whose cattle wagons the 11,000 children from France were channeled through Germany. Numerous appeals and pleas, asking for the allowance to be able to conduct memorial services at least in the through stations of the death transport, (e.g. Saarbrucken, Frankfurt, and Dresden) have remained unanswered. If, by May 8th, the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Hitler Coalition, the Deutsche Bahn AG has not given its accord, the exhibition will have to be made without their consent, explain the initiators in a recent declaration made available to the editors. If this becomes the case, one would ,,gladly accept any help offered from persons in Germany or abroad."In several German cities, committees and initiative groups are working on the realization of this idea. more…

KRONBERG/BERLIN |

KRONBERG/BERLIN On the occasion of US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice's first official visit, Chancellor Schroeder announced that Germany would reinforce its engagement in Iraq. German commitment centers on the training of police and military personnel for that war-devastated country, as well as the establishment of state institutions such as ministries. A bit earlier, Interior Minister Schily declared at his meeting with President Bush, in Washington that German experts could supervise the establishment of the Interior and Justice Ministries and send specialists for the elaboration of the Iraqi constitution. The support offered by Berlin is aimed at undermining the position of power, the USA has attained through its war of aggression and subsequent occupation of the that country, and at counteracting this position through long-term and sustained political and economic influence. more…

BERLIN |

BERLIN With the sixtieth anniversary of the liberation from the Nazis a few months away, representatives of state organisations are seeking to turn 8 May into a day of remembrance for German ,,victims"of the Second World War. The council of a Berlin borough has passed a resolution to this effect, and German politicians are defending it in the teeth of massive protests by foreign diplomats and Jewish organisations. At the same time, parliamentarians belonging to the extreme right-wing National Democrats (NPD) are making radical capital out of revisionist tendencies in German public affairs and describing the Allied bombings of German cities as a ,,bomb holocaust", drawing on popular writings by German historians who are clearly using the same language to describe both the Holocaust and the Allies' conduct of the war, thereby making them equivalent. more…

BERLIN/PRISTINA |

BERLIN/PRISTINA German members of parliament from all the main parties are making the case for the early secession of the southern Serbian province of Kosovo in broadcasts by the Albanian language service of German state radio, ,,Deutsche Welle". In an interview with the station, which is the most popular among the Albanian-speaking population, the Social Democrat foreign affairs spokeswoman, Uta Zapf, stated that they had ,,for many years"supported the conferment of state sovereignty on the district. A plan by the ,,International Crisis Group", supported by Berlin, provides for the attainment of sovereign powers by the provincial government in Pristina from the middle of next year. Whilst German foreign policy has worked towards this goal for years, critics foresee a ,,domino effect in the region"and warn of a mafioso ,,gangster state"in Kosovo. more…

BERLIN/RUMBEK (Own Report) |

BERLIN/RUMBEK (Own Report) Recently, the German foreign office (AA) sent Kerstin Müller, minister of state (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) to south Sudan and Uganda for several days of discussions. Berlin attempts to undermine Sudan's central government with the refusal of EU development funds, while providing credits for infrastructures to the Sudan's South. The German government wants to infuse several hundred of million into the region under the influence of the secessionist Sudanese People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) which is in the process of taking power. German investments in the region would create bases of operation serving German interests including designs on neighboring countries. One of the central construction projects of German companies is a connecting railroad for transporting oil out of southern Sudan. Encouraged by the foreign projects for raw materials, a new secession movement in the east of the Sudan tries to partake of the impending influx of funds. Port Sudan, the country's only oil port is under their influence. more…
