DAMASCUS/BAGHDAD/BERLIN (Own report) - A recently declassified memo of the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) reveals that the West had supported the creation of the "Islamic State" (IS). Using jihadist forces has been a Western tradition for decades, as the Afghanistan war in the 1980s and an analysis of the Western power struggle with Iran (especially since 2003) show. In the 1980s, western countries - in collaboration with Saudi Arabia - had supported jihadists associated with Osama bin Laden, to defeat Soviet military forces in Afghanistan. Since at least ten years, they have been supporting Arab jihadists in an effort to weaken Iran's main allies. These activities, accompanying the official "war on terror," are "a very high-risk venture,” warn US intelligence officials. Saudi Arabia, one of Germany's main allies in the Arab world, is playing a central role in supporting jihadists. more…

DAMASCUS/BERLIN (Own report) - A large portion of the arms smuggling to the Syrian insurgents is passing under the nose of the German Navy. Numerous reports have affirmed that Syrian insurgent militias are being furnished a large portion of their war material by sea, with the main hub being the Lebanese port city of Tripoli. The Lebanese coastline is under the surveillance of the German Navy within the framework of the United Nations' UNIFIL, with the official mission of thwarting arms smuggling. The naval units, to which the German Defense Minister paid a visit yesterday, are also constructing a radar installation in Tripoli, which serves as a hub for Salafist combatants from the Hindu Kush. According to renowned journalists, arms deliveries to the rebels have reached record levels since the initiation of the ceasefire in April. The weapons have enabled the insurgent militia to bring vast areas of Syria under, its control, providing a safe haven, where a "parallel state" is being established. Large sectors of the domestic Syrian opposition are opposed to the military operations of the often Islamist oriented insurgents, fearing this could lead to an escalation of confessionalist violence. The Hula Massacre confirms this apprehension. more…

BEIRUT/BERLIN/GAZA | | libanonisrael

BEIRUT/BERLIN/GAZA (Own report) - German government advisors are considering the German naval deployment along the coast of the Gaza Strip. German naval "experience acquired off the coast of Lebanon (...) could serve possibly as a precedent for similar maritime missions," according to a recent publication by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), for example off the coast of the Palestinian Autonomous Territory. This remark coming out of Berlin shows that the Lebanon deployment was intended to pave the way for a more extensive military presence in the Near East. German repressive authorities already have police units engaged in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories. The German government's effort to enhance its influence through the deployment of police or military is pursuing the intermediary goal of deploying pro-western forces in the vicinity of Israel. According to the DGAP, Berlin should be careful not to directly serve Tel Aviv's interests - otherwise this will endanger its success in Arab countries. This suggests a strategy for attaining a "mediating" role between Israel and the Arab world to secure - strategically - an independent German position of power in the Near East. more…

WASHINGTON/BERLIN/PARIS | | irakiranaserbaidschantuerkeisyrienjordaniensaudi-arabienpakistanlibanonyemen

WASHINGTON/BERLIN/PARIS (Own report) - American military circles are recommending a re-organization of all nations in the Middle East along ethnic lines. Loss of territory and drawing new borders will effect Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan among others. Through the complete dissolution of states, new actors will be created in international law, along the lines of ethnic and religious affiliation. According to this plan, a country, by the name of "Free Kurdistan" will be created, three times the size of Syria, from territory taken from today's northern Iraq and eastern Turkey. The remainder of Iraq will be divided, the capital, Baghdad, smashed. Iran would lose extensive areas of its coast, as well as, territory bordering on Pakistan, where a "Free Baluchistan" is to be founded. Mekka and Medina, until now located in Saudi Arabia, will be promoted to capitals of an "Islamic Sacred State," that will extend to the southern borders of Jordan - doubling the surface of the Hashemite territory ("Greater Jordan"). This ethnic re-organization is depicted on several US maps, that the historian Dr. Pierre Hillard (Paris) has now published in France. In his talk with german-foreign-policy.com Hillard deems that "German policy plays an important role in propagating these ideas". German-foreign-policy.com publishes, for the first time in Germany, the US cartography. more…

BERLIN/WILHELMSHAVEN/KIEL/BEIRUT (Own report) - The German government is demanding that the German navy be given the authority to seize foreign ships, at large of the Lebanese coast, despite ongoing resistance from Beirut and the UN. Already a few weeks ago, the German Navy "offered" the United Nations and the Lebanese government an "Einsatzgruppenversorger" (EGV, combat unit logistic support ship). Whereas in official statements it is emphasized that this ship is proficient in medical relief work, the real purpose of this type of vessel is to accompany larger naval combat units. During naval combat operations, the so-called "EGVs'" mission is to secure logistical supplies, equipment and ammunition. They simultaneously function as hospital ships, to treat wounded soldiers. According to recent reports a combat fleet will follow the "EGV" operating in the Mediterranean off the Lebanese coast. The fleet is to be given the mandate, to seize foreign ships, while the "EGV" is to insure its necessary capacity to persevere. The military name ("Einsatzgruppenversorger") brings to mind the name of German troops, ("Einsatzgruppen"), that rampaged throughout Eastern Europe in World War II. more…

BERLIN/TEL AVIV/BEIRUT/DAMASCUS (Own report) - Under the pretext of a peace policy ("Israel's right of existence"), Berlin is urging the deployment of German naval and police units in the Middle East. The expedition corps currently being prepared is supposed to maintain the Israeli imposed embargo measures along the Lebanese coast and occupy the bombarded roads leading to Syria. The deployment of German armed forces (Bundeswehr) was explicitly endorsed by the Israeli war cabinet. Because of its long-standing relationship with West Germany, in the arms trade and military cooperation, Tel Aviv sees no problem in this deployment, considering it to be absolutely reliable. This bellicose alliance complements the superb business relations of the German arms industry with Arab states and yields additional profits: by granting Israel special terms and using political exaggerations ("protecting Jews"), Berlin protects itself against restitution demands reaching hundreds of billons. more…

BEIRUT/BERLIN | | libanon

BEIRUT/BERLIN (Own report) - Even before units of the German armed forces (Bundeswehr) are deployed in the Middle East, Lebanese critics are warning of a new civil war. Even a German military intervention "will not be able to neutralize" the "explosive cocktail" of western, Arab and Iranian interests, anticipates the history professor, Abdel Abdel-Raouf Sinno, in Beirut during a discussion with german-foreign-policy.com. As various scenarios are being circulated in Berlin, as to which branches of the Bundeswehr will intervene in Lebanon, Prof. Sinno refers to the ongoing French-German rivalry, that has affected the eastern Mediterranean, since German enterprises began to massively expand into the area. In the "Greater Middle East", the US project of an Arab colony for resources, inter-western contradictions are unfolding and leading to a heightened destabilization of the entire region. more…

BERLIN/BEIRUT (Own report) - The former leader of the opposition in the German Federal Parliament, who has become the current chancellor, Angela Merkel, (CDU), had been informed 11 months ago of the torture that was taking place during German criminal investigations. She took no legal steps against these crimes. This is proven by documents on hand at german-foreign-policy.com. According to this information, Mrs. Merkel was informed in writing of the facts of the case February 24, 2005. The chairpersons of the other parliamentary parties or their parliamentary representatives were also informed of the accusations eleven months ago. The parliamentarians were made aware that the "outsourced" state's attorney investigations to Lebanon, ended in grievous violations of human rights through torture. The Federal Public Prosecutor was the person directly responsible for German "offshore" criminal prosecution measures, taking place in a torturing state. The Federal Office of Criminal Investigation (BKA) was an accomplice. When a witness of this obvious crime, turned to the Petitions Committee of the Federal Parliament, he was held at bay for more than six months. The parliamentarian non-treatment of the torture charges sheds a spotlight on the internal state of the German Republic, that feels itself called upon to defend human rights around the world. The Torturers

BERLIN/MECKENHEIM/BEIRUT | | libanonsyrien

BERLIN/MECKENHEIM/BEIRUT (Own report) - Severe torture during judicial investigations by the federal prosecutor's office is the outcome of systematic cooperation between the German government agencies and the military secret services of Lebanon and Syria. This is what German-foreign-policy.com has learned from the Federal Office of Criminal Investigation, (BKA), where these crimes are being referred to as "torture outsourcing." According to this information, a BKA liaison officer in Lebanon had consolidated the contacts to the appropriate offices in the country, shortly before the delivery of the first suspect from Germany which led to torture. The operation was supervised by an employee of the German embassy in Beirut who was kept abreast of the Lebanese methods of torture being applied. In violation of the diplomatic status, the "outsourcing preparations" were carried out in an office of the German diplomatic mission. According to information received by german-foreign-policy.com the results of the interrogation were also evaluated in this office. In spite of having been reported through official channels, the president of the Federal Office of Criminal Investigation (BKA) has refused for several months to swear out a warrant for the crime of torture. The Federal Prosecutor General still refuses to open an investigation into the matter. "Naked fear is widespread" in the halls of the BKA, a BKA official explained to this editorial staff, because further details of their "war on terror" could be made public. These details include the direct cooperation between German and American administrations. According to written information on hand at the editorial office of german-foreign-policy.com, the FBI had its own office space in the BKA headquarters in Meckenheim. US authorities functioning on German territory transmit their questions of interest to the interrogators by way of the BKA through its liaison in Beirut. The questions are then forwarded to the Lebanese torturers of Mohamed Ramez Sultan, a car dealer from Munich. more…
