A Shared Home?

GEROLSTEIN/WARSAW (Own report) In an internationally circulated appeal, Polish, Czech and German signatories oppose the establishment of a ,,Zentrum gegen Vertreibungen"(centre against expulsions) and warn of a ,,revision of history."Furthermore, a ,,centre which is to establish and achieve a uniform view of history,"could cement ideologies which are based on nationalism, ethnicity, and racism and serve ,,to re-interpret political and social controversies into ethnic ones."

The signatories, representing a wide range of political positions, are of the opinion that the planned ,,Zentrum"would endanger the progress of ,,building a shared European home."Their appeal appeared in the Polish and Czech press but is only circulated in the internet in Germany.

Excerpts of the appeal and the list of signatories can be found under documents
